Modern Slavery Statement
Four Hills Country is committed to operating ethically, transparently and responsibly. Although we are a small business and not legally required to produce a Modern Slavery Statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we believe it is important to outline the standards we uphold and the expectations we have of the partners and suppliers we work with.
Our Commitment
We have zero tolerance for modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour or any form of exploitation within our business or supply chain. We are committed to ensuring that all products we sell are sourced from suppliers who share these values and operate legally, safely and ethically.
Who We Work With
Four Hills Country sources products from a blend of:
- independent British makers and small creative businesses,
- established UK equestrian and country brands,
- European suppliers with strong labour policies, and
- a small number of global brands with publicly available ethical statements.
The majority of our Friends of Four Hills partners produce items in the UK or Europe, often in small batches or handmade, with transparent production processes and clear traceability. Our preference is always toward small-scale, ethical and independent manufacturing.
Supplier Standards
We expect all suppliers, manufacturers and partners to:
- comply with all local labour laws and international human rights standards,
- ensure fair, safe and legal working conditions,
- never use forced, bonded or involuntary labour,
- never employ underage workers,
- provide fair wages and reasonable working hours,
- maintain transparent supply chains, and
- support ethical production practices.
Where a supplier has their own Modern Slavery or Ethical Statement, we review it before entering or renewing a partnership.
Our Internal Practices
As a small business, Four Hills Country does not operate factories, workshops or large-scale production lines. However, within our own operations we ensure:
- fair treatment and safe working conditions for all staff and contractors,
- appropriate working hours and scheduling,
- no exploitation, discrimination or unfair practices,
- freedom for all workers to raise concerns,
- ongoing awareness of ethical production and labour risk factors.
Risk Management
Our risk is naturally lower due to:
- our small size and direct oversight of operations,
- a limited, highly curated supplier base,
- a strong preference for UK and EU-made goods,
- close, ongoing relationships with our independent makers.
However, we remain vigilant. If concerns ever arise regarding a supplier’s labour practices, we will investigate immediately and suspend the partnership if needed.
Ongoing Responsibility
Our commitment to ethical practice is continuous. As our business grows, we will continue to review our processes, improve transparency, and prioritise suppliers who champion fair labour and responsible production.
Raising Concerns
If you have any concerns regarding the labour practices of a supplier or partner we work with, please contact us at help@fourhillscountry.co.uk. We take all reports seriously and will review any information provided.
This statement will be reviewed annually and updated as needed.
