Hawthorn leaves are rich in flavonoids and antioxidants helping to aid cardiovascular health in equines. Hawthorn is known for its support of blood circulation and maintaining normal blood pressure, supporting cardiovascular function, and aiding vitality and a rich source of Iron.
Hawthorn is also helpful for older horses, not only because it supports the circulation and a strong heart, but also because it may help with joint issues. By boosting the circulation it can help the body remove toxins which can build up in the joints. For this reason horses with arthritis will often select hawthorn leaf and flowers.
Hawthorn leaves may also aid in reducing stress and anxiety in horses, supporting the immune system and assisting general health.
